Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has offered his support to Unai Emery amid intense pressure from supporters.
The Spanish boss has been criticised for poor recent results and his handling of Granit Xhaka’s outburst during the draw with Crystal Palace, which eventually saw him stripped of the captaincy.
Arsenal drew in the Europa League clash against Vitoria on Wednesday in what was another disappointing performance, but Tierney is adamant that he and his team-mates are behind the former Paris Saint-Germain boss.
The Scotland international said: “For me, the manager has been brilliant ever since I arrived in England.
“Everybody in the changing room has belief in the manager and in each other.
“I am learning a lot every day working with great players and I am really enjoying the manager’s style of play.
“He likes to keep the ball and play with a possession-type game.
“I am working on my technique with him, on my passing, my crossing and everything in general.
“He is definitely helping to make me a better player and now it is up to me and the other players to correct results on the pitch.”
Arsenal hero Paul Merson has also given his thoughts on Emery’s future, and discussed whether the former Sevilla boss could lose his job if they lose to Leicester on Saturday.
“You look at it and if they change it [by sacking Emery] they would have two weeks to look for a new one,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If Leicester City win this game they would be nine points clear of Arsenal and that’s big even at this stage of the season.
“It’s a big game for him. I think he is under pressure.
“The crowd are starting to get on his back. At the end of the day, the fans are the people who get you the sack.
“We saw it with Arsene Wenger and they are not happy at the moment.
“It’s a massive football game for Arsenal this weekend.”
