Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos will miss Saturday’s game against Southampton, the club have confirmed on their official website.
In an injury update posted to their website, they say he won’t take part in the game due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the Gunners’ Europa League draw with Vitoria on November 6.
The Real Madrid loanee missed his side’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City before the international break and the club expect him to be out until mid-December.
That’s when Ceballos will return to full training, and then he’ll have to compete for his place back in the starting 11.
While it’s been a difficult campaign for the Gunners this season, Ceballos has been praised for his impact since swapping Madrid for the English capital. Indeed, the Spanish international has assisted twice so far in the Premier League and pundits such as Robin van Persie have waxed lyrical of him earlier in the campaign.
Ceballos not being fit could mean Mesut Ozil gets another chance to prove he’s capable of returning himself to the player who earned the £350,000-per-week contract.
Ozil has made just five appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season, making just one assist in the 5-5 thriller against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
