Arsenal supporters hit out at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he lost his temper with 20-year-old midfielder Joe Willock during the 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Thursday.

The Gunners slumped to a loss which extends their winless run in the Premier League to seven games, with Brighton deservedly picking up the three points.

The visitors took the lead through Adam Webster after 36 minutes but Arsenal had an opportunity to equalise towards the end of the first half when Willock drove at goal through the middle, with Aubameyang peeling off into a promising position on the right hand side.

At the last minute Aubameyang checked his run but Willock made the pass anyway, which Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan was able to comfortably pick up, and the half time whistle was blown not long afterwards.

Aubameyang could not hold back his frustrations with Willock, and reacted by throwing his arms up in anger and launching a volley of verbal abuse towards the youngster.

In the end it turned out to be a big moment in the game, as although the Gunners equalised early in the second half through Alexandre Lacazette, Neal Maupay sealed the win for Brighton in the 80th minute. There is no knowing whether the result could have been different had Arsenal equalised before half time, but their fans reacted with anger towards new club captain Aubameyang on Twitter following the incident with Willock, believing he was unfair to target such a young and inexperienced player.
