Chelsea are ready to launch a move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha in January as they are doubtful over Dortmund’s willingness to sell Jadon Sancho.
The Blues had their transfer ban reduced last week meaning they’re now free to sign players in January and Lampard is keen on bolstering his squad.
Zaha was desperate to leave Selhurst Park last summer and was keen on a move to Arsenal before the Gunners opted for Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian then wanted to join Everton after Arsenal ended their interest but the Toffees failed to meet Palace’s £80m valuation of the forward.
Lampard’s side have thrived this term due to his faith in young players such as Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham but he wants to add more depth to his squad. Sancho, 19, had been identified by Chelsea as far back as 12 months ago and the Blues are willing to break the bank for the England international.
However, Chelsea do not believe that the Bundesliga giants would let Sancho leave in January and the Mirror report they’re not willing to waste their time on the move.
Palace are resigned to losing Zaha and will allow him to depart in January, providing their asking price of around £80m is met.
Chelsea have plenty of money to spend after pocketing around £90m from Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid last summer, as well as £9m from David Luiz’s move to Arsenal.
