For their part, Manchester City have given their green light to the finalisation of the deal.

Arteta, who played for Arsenal from 2011 to 2016, will take over temporary caretaker Freddie Ljungberg. This morning Manchester City had training without Arteta, as the 37-year-old Spaniard bid his farewell to the players and the coaching staff.

The final details of the deal will be completed shortly, then Arteta will be unveiled as new Arsenal manager and presented to the press on Friday.
