Leeds United lost again on Saturday, this time going down 1-0 at home to Wigan, thanks to an own goal as Pablo Hernandez deflected a corner past his own keeper.
Arsenal cut short Eddie Nketiah’s loan at Leeds due to his lack of playing time. Despite scoring six goals, he was only given two league starts, and both of those came in the last two league matches before Arsenal recalled him as Leeds tried to change the club’s position.
He never played 90 minutes in the Championship once.
Returning to Arsenal, the initial plan was to loan him out again with Bristol City finally thinking they were going to land a player they were desperate to get their hands on in the summer.
Nketiah, however, had other ideas and set about impressing Arteta so much that the Spaniard decided to keep him at the club and handed him a start in the FA Cup.
One game, one full 90, one goal.
Perhaps if Leeds had realised that, they’d still have him.
Leeds have played five league games since Nketiah left, winning just one, losing three and drawing one.
They have only managed to score in two of those matches.
