Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is focused on Arsenal according to Bernd Leno who says speculation over the striker’s future is not having any impact on the squad.
When the summer arrives, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have just 12 months left on his current Arsenal deal.
Given that Raul Sanllehi said upon his arrival that no players would be allowed to get into the final two years of their contracts, we find ourselves in something of a pickle.
We all know Auba won’t sign a new deal unless we make it to the Champions League and, even then, it seems unlikely as he eyes up a dream move to Spain in what will be his last chance for a big move given his age.
But none of this is impacting the team according to Leno.
“Not too many players talked about this,” Leno told the Daily star.
“Of course there are rumours but you never had the feeling that any player was thinking about another club or wanted to leave or they didn’t have the mentality in training.
“Everybody can see we have a new manager and a new mentality. We want to build something here.
“Maybe it takes a little bit of time but of course we also want to have good results straight away now.
“You can see on the pitch all these rumours don’t affect these players – they are fighting, they are leading the team and this is the only way.”
