Arsene Wenger spoke to the media about the chances of Arsenal making the top four this season, and couldn’t help referring to his old club as ‘we’.

After leaving Arsenal, Arsene Wenger featured more heavily as a TV pundit, particularly on beIN SPORTS. Now he has a job at FIFA, but still makes appearances as a TV expert from time to time.

This weekend, the Frenchman was back in the beIN studio and talking about Arsenal’s chances of making it back into the Champions League qualification places. It’s clear he’s still following the team closely as a fan, referring to them as ‘we’.

“They’ve all got a chance because it looks like the top three are away from the rest of the league and the rest of the league, teams have moved up and some of the teams in the top six have dropped their level,” he said.

“We have 26 games, after tomorrow’s game we have 33 points to go for. If you make 22-25 points, you have a chance.”

Sunday’s game against Everton was certainly one to set the tone for the coming weeks. Arsenal went through a series of draws in the league, but they turned it around with a big win over Newcastle.

Slump back into draws and defeats now, and it looks like the Newcastle game was a one-off. Yes, Arsenal beat Olympiacos in midweek, just as they defeated Leeds United and Bournemouth in the FA Cup. But they have to find consistency in the league.

With the win this weekend, suddenly you’re going into a winnable run of games with confidence. Let’s see what happens.
