Full Details as Cazorla and Wenger Set to Return to Emirates in The Summer

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are reportedly planning a ‘farewell’ match for both Santi Cazorla and Arsene Wenger at the Emirates to take place some time before the start of next season.

When Arsene Wenger departed, unlike Sir Alex Ferguson, he gave his successor space and time to mess up without watching from the stands. In fact, he hasn’t been back for a game since his departure and that is, perhaps, not at all surprising.

But, as we all know, time heals many wounds.

As for Santi Cazorla, the player has frequently talked about not getting a chance to say goodbye to the fans while we all know everyone of us would love the chance to bid farewell to one of our favourite players of the last generation.

Tucked away at the very bottom of Sami Mokbel’s article in Wednesday’s Daily Mail on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract status, that contained no new information and plenty of speculation, was this throwaway bit of info:

That’s it, that’s all we know at this point beyond the recent reports that Arsenal were planning something to bring Wenger back to the club, although the reasons at that point were not clear.

It has also been speculated that Arsenal could invite Villarreal to the Emirates Cup this summer, although Cazorla is out of contract with them in the summer and while his form has been such he deserves a new contract, it’s not clear if he will get one.

Arsenal’s situation regarding European qualifiers could also impact the Emirates Cup this season so much is still very much up in the air at this point.
