Arsenal scouts are planning to send scouts to watch Domenico Berardi in the coming weeks, ahead of a possible summer move, according to reports in Italy.

Calciomercato report that Arsenal scouts are moving for Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi. The scouts plan to watch Sassuolo matches over the coming weeks to observe the player.

Berardi is up to 20 appearances for the season, scoring nine goals and assisting five. All of those goal contributions came in Serie A, as well as all-but-one of his appearances.

The 25-year-old regularly captains his current team, usually playing on the right-wing. He can also play a central role as a second striker or even a centre-forward.

Obviously, it would be strange to see Arsenal signing a right-winger when Nicolas Pepe is still at the club. There are plenty of other positions worth addressing, and the Ivorian is playing well after half a season of adaptation.

If the plan is to play Berardi centrally or on the left, it’s a different matter. Mikel Arteta doesn’t have a huge number of experienced left-wingers, and there are question marks around the futures of a lot of the central options.
