Arsenal are scouting 20-year-old forward Jonathan David in preparation for the possibility of losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
Goal report that Arsenal have extensively scouted Jonathan David throughout the campaign. They’re planning for the possibility of losing one of their two star strikers this summer, and see David as a possible replacement.
If Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League again, at least one could move on. David is high up on the shortlist if that happens, with a valuation of around £17.5m. There’s no release clause in the player’s contract, lasting until 2023.
Goal also claim David is personally keen to move on this summer, though he may consider a move to Germany or France before the Premier League, despite the appeal of a transfer to England.
David has 23 goals and 10 assists in 39 appearances this season. Admittedly, most of those came in the Jupiler Pro League. He does also have seven goal contributions in 13 games in the Europa League and Europa League qualifying though.
Just last week, the forward scored against AS Roma in the last-32. Unfortunately for him, Arsenal loanee Henrikh Mkhitaryan set up an equaliser to knock the Belgian side out 2-1 on aggregate.
Goal’s Charles Watts had a good record on Arsenal transfer news in January. So this is one to keep an eye on.
