Feyenoord head coach Dick Advocaat believes the rumours about Arsenal interest in Orkun Kokcu are genuine, but the Gunners are yet to make formal contact.

Recent reports suggested Arsenal hold an interest in Feyenoord teenager Kokcu for a summer transfer, as one of technical director Edu’s priority moves. The Daily Mail claimed it would cost around £23m, with the Gunners keen to complete a deal before Euro 2020.

Additionally, the Mail added that Arsenal had made initial contact over the transfer. Whilst this may or may not be true, Feyenoord boss Dick Advocaat claims the Gunners haven’t spoken to the club directly just yet. He does think the interest is genuine though.

“It seems that what I read is true. But no one has yet come to Feyenoord (to make their interest clear),” Advocaat told Fox Sports via Turkish-Football.

On whether Kokcu would fit in at Arsenal, the coach added: “I think he fits everywhere.”

Kokcu is up to 35 appearances for the season, scoring three goals and assisting six so far. In Europe, he assisted goals against Rangers and FC Porto in his final group stage appearances.

Arsenal have been keeping an eye on Kokcu for quite a while now. Club scouts reportedly first watched him on his debut, back in 2018. The player has a strong long shot and takes good set-pieces, though his defensive contribution is a bit weaker.
