Confirmed: Torreira Gives Timeframe For Injury Return After Positive Tests

Lucas Torreira is feeling good following the positive results to tests on his ankle injury, planning to return to full fitness in eight to 10 weeks.

After Lucas Torreira left the pitch against Portsmouth on a stretcher, walking out of the ground with a protective boot and crutches, it seemed likely his injury return was a long way off.

Speaking to the media this week, however, Torreira was feeling good about things. The tests they ran on his injury yielded positive results, and he thinks he’ll be back in a couple of months.

“I’m quarantined at home. Working on my own in recovery,” Torreira began. “I had to buy some devices and the club will collaborate with everyone so that we can continue working individually in our homes.

“I’m happy because the exams were good. I’m still wearing the orthopaedic boot. In eight or 10 weeks I will be able to work normally.”

Given the football is off for the foreseeable future anyway, that’s great news. Realistically, I don’t think anyone expects any matches before May, which is around seven of those weeks.

No Arsenal player appeared in more matches for the team this season. Before the Premier League suspension, Torreira was up to 33 appearances for the campaign.

Nicolas Pepe, Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock, David Luiz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang followed closely behind on 32.

If the season does continue at some point, let’s hope Torreira can help out with it.
