Ilkay Gundogan sung the praises of Mikel Arteta and admitted to being a boyhood fan of Thierry Henry, speaking in a Q&A on social media.
Ilkay Gundogan joined Manchester City a month before Mikel Arteta, back in June 2016. As a result, he witnessed the Arsenal head coach’s transition from playing to coaching first-hand.
The midfielder ran a Twitter Q&A to kill time during the coronavirus postponement this week. He answered a couple of questions relating to Arsenal, the first on what it was like working with Arteta.
It seems like no one on the City wage bill has a bad word to say about Arteta. They were obviously very successful during his time there, winning plenty of trophies. The 37-year-old earned his share of the credit for that.
The early signs are that he can have a positive impact coaching in North London too. The Arsenal squad are taking to him well so far, at least.
Back on the Q&A, Gundogan also admitted Thierry Henry was his favourite Premier League player as a child.
That’s no surprise, Henry was the best Premier League player of that era. It’s just nice to hear more playing professionals admit it.
