Arsenal are making contract extension talks with Bukayo Saka a priority when they return to work next week, according to a report.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are making contract extension talks with Bukayo Saka a priority when they return from self-isolation next week.
Saka only has 15 months left on his current contract of £7,000-per-week plus appearance bonuses. That was the first professional deal he signed, but circumstances have changed significantly since then.
The 18-year-old is up to 29 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three times and assisting 10 goals. Despite playing slightly out of position at left-back, he made himself an important part of Mikel Arteta’s team.
That form is pushing Arsenal to agree a new long-term deal with the player. So far, Saka’s focus has been on playing well and appearing in the lineup regularly. The resulting lack of progress on the contract front is drawing other clubs in though.
David Ornstein previously claimed Arsenal are working on a five-year deal for Saka. They’re optimistic they can fight off interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich to secure an extension.
