FC Barcelona want to sell Philippe Coutinho and a move to Arsenal is possible, among other English clubs, according to reports.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Kaveh Solhekol claimed Barcelona are keen to sell Coutinho this summer, with Arsenal among the possible buyers.
The on-loan midfielder spent the campaign with Bayern Munich, but they aren’t planning to make the move permanent.
Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian reportedly ‘has good contacts at Arsenal’, as well as Chelsea and Spurs. Solhekol describes a move to these clubs as ‘possible’, but there’s a catch.
As things stand, Barcelona are hoping to bring in more than £100m for the midfielder. None of the clubs above want to pay that much for the former Liverpool man. The only way a deal will happen is on loan with an option, or if Barcelona change their demands.
Before the season’s suspension, Coutinho scored nine goals and assisted eight in 32 appearances. That included a goal and an assist against Spurs in the Champions League group stage.
A very solid record, but asking £100m for a player who turns 28 in a couple of months is still very ambitious.
