Besiktas don’t plan to activate their purchase option for Mohamed Elneny, but they want to take him on loan again next season, according to reports in Turkey.
Turkish outlet Sabah report that Besiktas want to take Elneny on loan from Arsenal again next season. The Super Lig club have an €18m purchase option in the midfielder’s contract, but they’re unlikely to meet this fee.
Besiktas are hoping the current chaos in football will make a permanent transfer harder to come by for Elneny, increasing their chances of another loan spell.
They believe Arsenal will look for a loan if they can’t sell. Clearly, Mikel Arteta doesn’t have the 27-year-old in his plans for next season.
Elneny is up to 28 appearances for the current campaign, providing a couple of assists. He consistently played the deepest role in midfield for Besiktas, even dropping back into defence whilst in possession.
The Egyptian also continues to feature for his country. He joined up with the national team squad in both October and November, though he only made two appearances, one from the bench.
