Arsenal are planning to sign Ryan Fraser on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer, according to a report.
TEAMtalk report Arsenal believe they’re leading the chase to sign Ryan Fraser from AFC Bournemouth this summer. Fraser’s contract expires on July 1st, so it would be a free transfer.
Although it didn’t lead to anything, there were widespread reports of Arsenal interest in Fraser last summer. The move seemingly broke down over Bournemouth’s high demands and Arsenal’s deal to sign Nicolas Pepe.
Of course, right now it’s not clear when the transfer window will actually open. Even if Fraser does end his contract on July 1st, we might still have 2019/20 matches going on at that point.
Whether he’d be free to register with a new club or only available to play for Bournemouth until the campaign ends isn’t clear.
After his impressive 2018/19 season, with eight goals and 15 assists, Fraser dropped off a bit this campaign. He only got up to one goal and four assists before the football shutdown. It’s not easy to keep playing for a club you thought you’d leave, in fairness.
