Arsenal Provide Good and Bad Injury News Ahead of Sheffield United Clash

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Ahead of Arsenal’s game against Sheffield United on Sunday the club has issued some good and bad news in terms of injured players.

As we all feared the worst regarding Bernd Leno’s injury, the club revealed that he will miss just four-to-six weeks of training, proving definitively that he isn’t made of Arsenal DNA. We all probably knew that in our hearts anyway, as he is a good goalkeeper, but this just seals it.

“Well we thought it was going to be a more significant injury, we don’t know the extent of the injury still but at least we know the cruciate ligaments are not damaged,” Arteta told the media. “That was the biggest fear at the start. He was more positive and in less pain today so that’s good news.”

Gabriel Martinelli, however, will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery due to a knee injury.

Pablo Mari won’t be featuring any time soon as he is out for two or three months. There was mention of surgery, but that’s not included in Arsenal’s latest update. The defender will, however, become an Arsenal player permanently when the transfer window opens.

Cedric Soares is “integrating back into full training following facial injury. Successful procedure has taken place further to nasal fracture sustained in training. Aiming to be available for selection after Sheffield United (a).” That match is this weekend.

Sokratis has returned to full training after a thigh problem, as has Granit Xhaka who picked up an ankle problem against Manchester City.

Lucas Torreira is expected to join them in full training in the next few weeks as he continues his return from the fractured ankle he picked up in March, while Calum Chambers is, of course, out for the season.

David Luiz is suspended but seems like he will be staying for another season.
