Inter Milan and Barcelona are both targeting a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, depending on whether their deal for Lautaro Martinez goes through.
GianlucaDiMarzio.com report that Inter Milan and Barcelona are both watching the situation with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang very closely.
From Inter’s point of view, they’re preparing for the possible departure of Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona. If Martinez leaves, they want to bring in Aubameyang as a replacement.
But if Barcelona fail to sign Martinez, they themselves will turn to Aubameyang as an alternative. It’s not looking good for Arsenal’s chances of keeping the striker either way.
The 31-year-old has a year left on his Arsenal contract, and the team aren’t doing a good job convincing him to stay with performances on the pitch. Much as he has a part to play in that, it’s extremely unlikely now that they’ll play Champions League football next season.
If Aubameyang has the chance to make a move to one of the leading clubs in Italy or Spain, getting a large payday, the possibility of trophies and at least a season or two of Champions League football, it’s hard to argue he should turn it down.
Arsenal will obviously want to keep the striker’s goals in the squad. But arguably they need a major rebuild, and even in the best-case scenario, Aubameyang won’t be around for long enough to see that through. It’s a tough call for the club.
