20 goals and 5 assists Wolfsburg Attacker Confirm He Wants Arsenal Move

27-year-old VfL Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst admits a transfer to Arsenal would be a good thing for him, fitting in ‘the perfect picture’.

Wolfsburg striker Weghorst spoke to Bureau Sport in a radio interview this week, and he addressed the rumours of a potential transfer to Arsenal.

Earlier this week, German outlet Bild reported that Arsenal and Newcastle United had the player on their summer shopping list. Wolfsburg reportedly want €35m for the striker who has three years on his contract.

Responding to a question on that report, Weghorst admitted he likes the idea.

“That would be nice, wouldn’t it,” Weghorst responded (via VI.nl). “That would be a good thing, of course, that fits in the perfect picture.”

When pressed on whether the interest is serious, Weghorst claimed he was probably the wrong person to talk to about it.

“This is a very boring answer, but you really shouldn’t be with me for that,” the striker continued. “I would say call them (Arsenal) up, make them nice and warm, then it’s all right.”

The 6’5″ target man has 20 goals and five assists in all competitions this season. He’s one of the best in the Bundesliga in the air, and he loves a flick-on.

You do wonder if Arsenal might pursue a striker like that with the strong options they have in wide areas. Someone to bring the best out of the wingers like Roberto Firmino does at Liverpool.

Whether Weghorst is the man for the job is another matter.
