Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in signing Adam Lallana, who will leave Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, but it looks as if his former boss, Brendan Rodgers, is leading the race to sign him.
It was first reported in February that Arsenal were keeping an eye on Lallana who will now definitely leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Speaking before their game against Brighton, Jurgen Klopp said, “It is clear Adam will leave the club in the summer.
“I miss already everything about him — and in this moment he is still here! He is an outstanding player, one of the most influential in training I have ever had in my life. He is an incredible professional. He is so fit. Now we have a difficult situation but I will respect Adam.
“There were a lot of discussions about players without contracts — with him there was not even a discussion,” added Klopp.
“It was clear Adam would extend his contract until the end of the season but we will not put any risk on his future.
“He is one of the most important players since I came here. I wish him only the best. He is already a legend here, so he can become a legend somewhere else.”
Lallana signed for Liverpool in 2014 when they were managed by Brendan Rodgers and it is the Leicester City boss who is said to be leading the race to sign him for free when the transfer window finally opens.
The Premier League will meet on Thursday this week to discuss those dates with it looking like it will be open from the day after the season ends (27 July) until early October (around 5 October).
