Arsenal want their right-back and vice-captain Hector Bellerin to stay with them this summer, according to David Ornstein.
Writing in the replies on a piece for The Athletic, David Ornstein claimed Arsenal want Hector Bellerin to stay. Despite the reports of outside interest in recent weeks, plus the signing of Cedric Soares on a long-term deal, the club clearly don’t want to sell.
Earlier this month, Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claimed Sevilla were keeping an eye on Bellerin for a summer move. Meanwhile, the Express reported that Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich were all ‘keeping tabs’ on his situation.
On the other side of things, the Mirror reported in June that Arsenal were keen to extend Bellerin’s contract. ESPN added that he wouldn’t leave the club this summer and is fully behind Mikel Arteta’s vision.
Looking at the sources involved, I have to side with Ornstein, the Mirror and ESPN over Estadio Deportivo and the Express. Maybe those clubs really do hold an interest in Bellerin, but Arsenal clearly aren’t open to selling.
Bellerin is up to 22 senior appearances for Arsenal this season, after recovering from an ACL injury and a subsequent hamstring problem. He’s a regular starter under Arteta in 2020 and that looks likely to continue.
