Arsenal are among the clubs chasing Said Benrahma for a summer move, as his current side Brentford push for promotion.
The Daily Mail report that Arsenal, Chelsea and Leeds United are among the clubs with an interest in signing Said Benrahma this summer. He caught Arsenal’s eye with his performances this season and looks certain to join the Premier League in 2020/21.
Of course, that could still be with Brentford. The club are potentially one game from promotion if they win their final match and West Brom don’t. Alternatively, they could go up through the playoffs if they fail to make it up automatically.
The player admits he always watched the top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, but he wants to play there with Brentford if possible.
“I always watched the Premier League, especially Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea,” Benrahma said. “Since I was a kid, I wanted to play in England.
“But I don’t look at it as my destiny to play in the Premier League. It has always been a target and I wish to play there with Brentford.”
Benrahma has 17 goals and nine assists this season, from 42 appearances for Brentford. All of those were in the Championship, as he didn’t feature in any of their three cup matches this campaign.
It’s obviously hard to judge just how well he’ll adapt that form to the Premier League, but he’s certainly showing he can do it against the top sides one level down.
