The Arsenal summer transfer window doesn’t entirely depend on sales to raise funds, but any they can make will help, according to Charles Watts.
Arsenal journalist Charles Watts posted a video on the club’s summer transfer window prospects on Tuesday, reporting that their business doesn’t entirely depend on sales.
Before qualifying for the Europa League, it looked like Arsenal would only be able to spend what they brought in. With European football, the picture changes slightly. However, any money they can bring in will certainly help in a big way.
“Arsenal’s summer is not dependent on raising money to bring other players in,” Watts said. “But it’s going to help. Even with Europa League football, money is going to be tight this summer.
“If Arsenal want to do a lot of business in the transfer market, then they’re going to have to sell to generate extra funds.”
Matteo Guendouzi is the most obvious candidate for a sale. He’s training separately, he’s burning his bridges with Arsenal and the club clearly plan to move him on. Torreira, Sokratis, Lacazette, Kolasinac and Holding are others potentially on the market.
On the other side, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the biggest stories of the summer for Arsenal right now. According to Watts, the club will offer a £250,000-a-week, three-year contract to the striker in the coming days.
Thomas Partey is still the key midfield target for a transfer into the club. But Atletico are standing firm on his valuation. Willian looks like a pretty easy one to bring in on a free transfer. Barcelona are offering Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal, likely on loan or a swap.
Then there’s Dani Ceballos, and whether he’ll return for another year. It’s going to be a busy month, but at least Arsenal kicked it off in the right way.
