Ben Sheaf is reportedly close to a permanent move to from Arsenal to Coventry for a fee said to be in the six-figure range.
Sheaf spent last season on loan with Doncaster Rovers where he was somewhat of a divisive figure amongst fans. That being said, he seemed to do enough to impress the management, playing 38 times.
According to the Nuneaton Telegraph, Arsenal are now open to letting the 22-year-old leave permanently. A six figure sum could be anything between £100,000 and £999,999 so we will have to wait and see just what end of that spectrum Coventry’s offer lies.
A few days ago it was reported there were two clubs vying for Sheaf’s signature but it seems as if Coventry have now taken the lead in the race for the midfielder.
Sheaf has two first team appearances for Arsenal after signing for the club as a teenager from West Ham.
Coventry boss, the former Manchester United player Mark Robbins, is said to be a big fan of Sheaf, who can also play as a centreback.
He is looking to reinforce his side after winning promotion to the Championship.
