Dani Ceballos says he’d choose Arsenal again if he had to, despite all the complications of the campaign, admitting he’s happy at the club.

Dani Ceballos’ loan spell with Arsenal came to an end on Saturday, but speaking ahead of the game, the midfielder admitted he doesn’t have any regrets over his decision to come to North London.

“I have been very happy at Arsenal,” Ceballos said. “Logically it is a season that will be marked by the pandemic…except for that, I have been very happy because the fans, the teammates and the two coaches that I have had have wrapped me up.

“If I had to choose Arsenal again, I would. Right now I feel like a leader of this important team, a player with stripes. Surrounded by people who believe in you, it is easier to believe in people.

“When you play like this and you also have the confidence of the coach, everything is easier.”

Ceballos initially joined Arsenal under Unai Emery, of course. He made plenty of appearances early on, featuring in every game until he picked up an injury in a Europa League match against Vitoria. With hindsight, he was probably playing a little too often.

Then again, not a huge amount changed after his eventual return.

At first, Mikel Arteta didn’t seem too keen to use him, leaving him on the bench for around a month of Premier League football. However, after the player’s attitude in training changed the head coach’s mind, he became a staple of the team.

Ceballos featured in every single game from Newcastle United on the 16th February to the end of the season. More than that, the fans started to enjoy his performances increasingly as time went by.

We’ll just have to wait and see whether he’ll rejoin the club again for next season, with Real Madrid and Arsenal said to be close to an agreement.
