Two Arsenal goalkeepers feature in the top three for save percentage this Premier League season, as the club face a dilemma at the back.
FotMob report that Emi Martinez is top of the Premier League goalkeeper rankings this season, with a save percentage of 81%. Bernd Leno comes in at third, with 77.6%. The other goalkeeper to make the top three is Hugo Lloris, on 79.6%.
It’s worth mentioning that both Martinez and Lloris have the advantage of smaller sample sizes.
The Arsenal goalkeeper came in towards the end of the campaign in great form, but there’s no real telling if he can keep it up over the course of a full season. Lloris only completed around half of the campaign (21 matches) with his elbow injury.
Whilst Leno made 30 starts, so his ranking is arguably the most impressive of the three. He was fighting with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Arsenal player of the season before his injury, and he’s still in the club vote for the award.
Still, Martinez stepped up when it counted and won Arsenal their first trophy under Mikel Arteta. Both deserve full credit for their performances this season, and the dilemma now is which one of them to start.
