Houssem Aouar could be lured away from Lyon this summer, according to club sporting director Juninho.

The midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City credited with an interest.

Aouar, 22, has three years left on his contract, but Juninho admitted there was a possibility he would leave Lyon in the current transfer window.

He told RMC Sport‘Houssem Aouar? When you have great players in the squad, it is quite logical that other bigger teams with greater economic power come to seek the players.

‘There is a risk of losing important players. If we lose important players, I have already spoken with the president, we will have the right to balance the workforce.’

Aouar enjoyed a fine season with Lyon despite seeing the Ligue 1 campaign cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. The Frenchman scored nine goals and provided seven assists and helped Lyon knock Juventus out of the Champions League in his last appearance.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed recently Aouar was not pushing for a move despite interest in his services. ‘Houssem has not said he wants to leave,’ he said.

‘We want to try to keep him even though the interest is considerable. There are no negotiations ongoing.’

Lyon would demand a big fee for Aouar and reportedly want more than £40million should any big clubs make their move.

Pep Guardiola is thought to be a massive fan of the young playmaker and will get the chance to get an up close look at the player. when City take on Lyon in their Champions League quarter-final.
