Sky Sports Confirm Lacazette Set for Shock Summer Transfer to Juventus

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, Sky Sport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Juventus hold an interest in Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, as the Serie A club look to replace Gonzalo Higuain up front.

Sky Sports report that Juventus have an interest in Alexandre Lacazette this summer. They expect Gonzalo Higuain to leave, with just a year remaining on his current contract.

Lacazette is far from the only striker Juventus are looking at, however. They’re also tracking Raul Jimenez of Wolves, as well as Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata, Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik and Roma’s Edin Dzeko.

Clearly, the situation is still in the very early stages. Juventus are casting a wide net to try and establish which targets are reasonable and which aren’t. At this point, it’s hard to say which camp Lacazette falls into.

The suggestion in recent weeks is that Arsenal are open to selling Lacazette for the right offer. But whether Juventus would actually make a decent offer is debatable, given their long list of potential alternatives.

Lacazette didn’t have a great season in North London, only scoring 12 goals in all competitions. But he did add a further seven assists, and six of those 19 goal contributions came in his final eight Premier League matches.

More than that, he was finding a role in the Arsenal team regardless of goals. Mikel Arteta had the 29-year-old dropping a bit deeper to link up play and allow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pépé to run in behind.

Lacazette didn’t score or assist in either the FA Cup semi-final or the final. Yet he started and played the majority of both games as Arsenal won against Manchester City and Chelsea. If Juventus aren’t willing to pay a fairly big fee, my feeling is that the French international will stay.
