Arsenal agreed terms with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a new contract last week, and are now extremely close to getting him to sign on for three years.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal have agreed terms with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a new contract, and they’re now close to getting the club captain to sign on. His new deal will be worth around £250,000-a-week over a three-year period.
Aubameyang got fans worked up on Sunday by tweeting an hourglass emoji, and The Telegraph claim this was indeed a sign that he’s close to an extension.
Raul Sanllehi was leading negotiations up until his departure from the club, but that shouldn’t affect the situation at this stage.
Fabrizio Romano claims Aubameyang will sign his new contract soon, whilst Sky in Italy report that Arsenal will announce it in the next few days.
This is obviously fantastic news, after the striker scored another 29 goals this season. Most notably, he scored four goals in his two FA Cup appearances against Manchester City and Chelsea at Wembley to lift the trophy.
Even though he was relatively consistent across the whole campaign, Aubameyang still showed an upturn in form under Mikel Arteta, contributing to 19 goals in 22 appearances after 13 in the previous 22 under Unai Emery and Freddie Ljungberg.
Lifting the FA Cup at the end, those goals weren’t for nothing. It looks like Aubameyang is ready to sign on now and push for more next season.
