Wolves and Newcastle United are the latest clubs to join a growing list of Premier League teams chasing Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer.

Sky Sports report that Wolves and Newcastle United both hold some interest in signing Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer.

Wolves are reportedly the latest team to register their interest in the player. Newcastle are only ‘monitoring developments’ at this stage. As for the interest from Tottenham Hotspur in reports earlier this week, they’re denying the claims of a move for the player.

Whether Spurs actually don’t want Maitland-Niles, or they’re just pretending not to want him to avoid driving his price up, we won’t know until later in the window.

Brighton are the fourth Premier League club in the mix at this stage. They’re apparently keeping close tabs with Brighton technical director Dan Ashworth a big fan.

The saga all kicked off earlier in the summer, when David Ornstein reported that Maitland-Niles felt he needed to leave the club this summer to achieve regular first-team football.

Admittedly, that was in mid-July. The player then featured in wins over Liverpool, Manchester City and the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

He also started the final game of the league season against Watford. Perhaps that changed his mind a little, but the exit rumours persist.
