Multiple Reliable Sources Confirm Magalhaes Arsenal Medical is Done!

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, Sky Sport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Gabriel Magalhaes will have his Arsenal medical this week after agreeing a deal to join Arsenal and completing 15 medicals before this one.

It was reported that Gabriel Magalhaes would have his Arsenal medical in France last week, with some reports suggesting it took place on Thursday ahead of a transfer.

The Times [£] and others then reported it was complete.

Here is the Manchester Evening News saying the same thing.

Now, however, RMC in France are saying the player’s medical will take place on Tuesday after it was widely agreed that Gabriel will indeed be signing for Arsenal.

The Daily Star also reported over the weekend that official statements are being readied.

The Telegraph claimed on Thursday that Arsenal had finally reached a full agreement to sign Gabriel on Wednesday, with Duncan Castles adding that the Brazilian centre-back would have a medical on Thursday before completing his transfer.

The Mirror added that this medical would take place in France, due to coronavirus restrictions. Others are saying Gabriel will have to spend two weeks in quarantine before being able to make his way to London Colney.

However, it all seems to be edging towards a conclusion from the looks of things.

The fact that the English media are starting to post with more certainty suggests Gabriel has made his decision regardless of claims to the contrary. Lille president Gerard Lopez publicly claimed the choice would be made between Thursday and Friday as he was leaving it up to the player to make the final call.

The deal, however, seems to be a lot further on that they are telling the press.

Lopez’s is certainly likely to be a more conservative explanation of the situation. The Lille president obviously wouldn’t admit the player has already made a decision in case things fall through with Arsenal, as can happen.

Even if we assume he is telling the truth, the decision should become clear in the coming days and we even have a rough idea of what shirt number Gabriel Magalhaes would get at Arsenal.
