Arsenal held an interest in a loan move for Felipe Anderson of West Ham United this summer, but the Hammers will only let him go permanently.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal technical director Edu showed an interest in signing West Ham’s Felipe Anderson on loan this summer, after becoming aware of the midfielder during his time with the Brazil national team.
The Gunners weren’t the only club to enquire about a loan either, with Lazio also making the same suggestion. However, West Ham would only want to part with Anderson for a fee, according to the claims.
West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee reported on the surprise interest from Arsenal last week. At the time, he wrote that Edu was a big fan, but it looked like the club saw Anderson as a backup signing.
As we highlighted at the time, Anderson is another player with close links to Kia Joorabchian. He’s with Bertolucci Sports, like David Luiz, who work closely with Kia’s Sports Invest UK Ltd.
It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now, though. If West Ham aren’t up for a loan move, it’s hard to see where Arsenal would find the money.
This is a player who isn’t exactly having the best season and would still come with a Premier League premium anyway. At this stage, I just can’t see it.
