Paris Saint-Germain are turning down the chance to sign Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal this summer, following discussions with the Gunners.
The Telegraph report that Paris Saint-Germain are turning down the chance to sign Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal this summer. The two clubs discussed the midfielder’s availability, but PSG subsequently told Arsenal they have no interest in the player.
The Gunners are looking to move on the 21-year-old this summer, as they try to raise money to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid. Guendouzi has two years left on his deal and is badly out of favour with his current club.
Valencia are one of few clubs still in the race for French u21 international. However, they want a loan deal, whilst Arsenal are hoping to bring in as much as £40m on a permanent transfer. Valencia won’t offer that in their current financial crisis.
Despite Mikel Arteta’s recent comments that everyone in the squad will get a clean slate for the new season, The Telegraph claim the preference is still to sell Guendouzi.
The former PSG academy player made 34 appearances for Arsenal last season. But the team really aren’t struggling without him, winning nine games in 12 and lifting both the FA Cup and the Community Shield. Not including a couple more friendly wins.
At this point, it’s looking more and more like Guendouzi needs Arsenal more than they need him.
