Gabriel Magalhaes is now an Arsenal player but how much will he be paid? Less than he’d get at other clubs, that’s for sure!
How do I know how that Arsenal are paying Gabriel Magalhaes less than other clubs offered? Because his agent told me so.
Well, not me personally…
“Arsenal was nowhere near the best proposal [money-wise],” Guilherme Miranda told journalist Freddie Paxton.
“Gabriel chose them over more lucrative offers because Edu convinced us of the project. It’s 100 per cent because of Edu Gaspar and Arteta.”
This is something that was confirmed when Gabriel was officially announced. “[Edu and I] had several chats about Arsenal and the new project, we had many good conversations,’ Gabriel told Arsenal Digital.
“As the days went by I was getting very excited about it, then I had a call from the coach and that was very reassuring.
“Having the coach himself calling you to say he wants you in his squad motivates you a lot. That is the very reason I am here today.”
The 22-year-old central defender turned down offers from Manchester United and others to join Arsenal, and we all know how daft United are with their money.
So how much are Arsenal paying Gabriel Magalhaes?
Arsenal will reportedly pay Gabriel Magalhaes €2m-a-year net.
That’s around £1.8m after tax that works out as £34.6kpw.
Before tax it’s around £3.375m-a-year or £65kpw.
Most salaries, as we hear them are gross (in all the ways). That’s before the government has taken its whack.
At £65kpw, Gabriel would earn more than Calum Chambers (£50kpw) but less than Kieran Tierney (£75kpw).
