Houssem Aouar has reportedly told Lyon he wants to leave the club this summer and Arsenal are still the only club to have made an official approach for him.
L’Equipe (via GFFN) report that Houssem Aouar is ‘determined’ to leave Lyon this summer, amid interest from Arsenal. The Ligue 1 club don’t want to sell, but they feel they may have no choice.
At this stage, there are four clubs the media are strongly linking to Aouar: Arsenal, PSG, Juventus and Manchester City.
Only the Gunners have made any kind of concrete move for the 22-year-old.
Arsenal offered cash plus Matteo Guendouzi, which Lyon turned down. They haven’t returned with another bid just yet.
Lyon want €60m for the sale and aren’t inclined to sell for less. Still, the closer the end of the transfer window gets and the more it looks like they might be lumped with an unhappy player, the more they might consider their position.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Arsenal board believe Aouar is a real top player. The midfielder would also love a move to the Premier League. But Lyon won’t accept any kind of swap deal and are sticking by their €60m valuation.
If all of that is correct, Arsenal will have to make some sales to afford a move. It looks like they’re very keen on Aouar, which is an encouraging sign. It’s just a matter of pushing hard for good fees on their outgoing players.
