Bad News: Arsenal Star Set to be Out for Almost 2 Months with Fresh Injury

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, Sky Sport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

David Luiz has picked up a rather vague ‘neck complaint’ that could be serious and is described as ‘delicate’ that could keep him out for 6 weeks.

In his article on the Athletic website [£], David Ornstein gives few other details about what happened, writing simply, “The 33-year-old defender’s participation is in serious doubt because of a neck complaint that could rule him out for an extended period.

“Rob Holding is now likely to stay at the club instead of joining Newcastle United on loan.”

However, Ornstein then adds that “a late decision is expected to be made on his availability,” which doesn’t sound as serious as it does above.

Luiz, as you know, was given a one-year extended contract and while we can look at the agent involved and ask many questions, keeping the Brazilian at the club when signing Gabriel was a very wise move.

Luiz brings experience (and an ability to speak Portuguese) that will be invaluable to both Gabriel and William Saliba.

I do find this update confusing. There is no indication of what happened to Luiz other than to say he picked up the problem against Liverpool in the Community Shield.
