Marseille are looking to sign Matteo Guendouzi on a loan deal before deadline day, expressing their interest to Arsenal and the player’s representatives.
Foot Mercato report that Marseille recently contacted both Arsenal and the Matteo Guendouzi camp to try and agree a loan deal for the out-of-favour midfielder. They’re looking to strengthen for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
Guendouzi already ignored interest from Villarreal, Hertha Berlin, Valencia and Real Betis, according to the same source. FM claim he could be more open to an offer from France, though, as his home country.
Previous reports also listed Paris Saint-Germain as an option, but they don’t seem to be making a formal move.
David Ornstein reports in his Ask Ornstein series that there was plenty of interest in Guendouzi in the current window. But that never led to concrete offers, at least not at the level Arsenal would’ve wanted to sell the midfielder.
If they get a serious bid over the next week, Arsenal could still sell. Otherwise, it’s even possible the player might stay, at least until the January window.
You’d think Arsenal would consider a loan offer, however. A year to put this whole saga behind him, remind people what he can do on the pitch and generate some interest for a sale next summer isn’t a terrible plan.
