Thomas Partey signed for Arsenal on deadline day this week, and details are starting to emerge about the contract he’s on with his new club.
TheAFCBell, who were the top source for the Partey-to-Arsenal story this summer, released some details of the player’s contract with the Gunners.
The player will sign an initial four-year deal in North London, with a salary just above £200,000-a-week including bonuses. Charles Watts adds that Arsenal will have the option for a further year on top of that.
Just to reiterate, the £200,000 figure only applies after bonuses, so the likes of the Mirror claiming he’s earning £260,000-a-week are wrong. He won’t make that much even if he fulfills all his bonus targets.
TheAFCBell also hit back at the Mirror’s claims of a 10% agent commission and £2.5m signing-on fee. They report that several sources deny those inflated agent commission fees.
Given the Mirror were completely clueless on this deal up until the last day, reporting the night before the deadline that Arsenal were “unlikely to see any incomings” and that the three midfield targets (including Partey) were “not happening”, I wouldn’t trust them.
To sum the Partey contract up:
- Four-year deal with a one-year option
- Salary just over £200,000 including bonuses and before tax
- No inflated agent commission, despite claims to the contrary
