Arsenal Star Out for Few Weeks With Hamstring Injury – NOT David Luiz

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, Sky Sport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Rob Holding could miss three or four weeks of match action with his hamstring injury from the weekend, according to a report.

The Daily Mail report that Holding could be out for a few weeks, after having a scan to assess the severity of his hamstring injury yesterday. There’s no confirmation just yet, but the implication in the article is that it’s not just minor tightness.

Holding picked up the injury in the warm-up before Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City. He was actually meant to be in the starting lineup for the fixture, so the timing will have been extra disappointing to both player and club.

It gives Arsenal a mini-crisis for the next week or two. Holding is out, and Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers seemingly aren’t quite fully sharp yet. Pablo Mari isn’t back in full training and Sokratis Papastathopoulos is ineligible for matches.

William Saliba is also ineligible for Europa League games, though he can play in the Premier League.

So in terms of fit and available senior centre-backs, Arsenal have Mustafi and Gabriel Magalhaes. Plus Kieran Tierney or Sead Kolasinac if they’re playing a back three, but neither can really play in a two. So Mustafi and Gabriel will have to start every game.

With any luck, Chambers will return soon and quickly boost the numbers again. It’s just the next few games and any further injuries we need to worry about.
