Bad News Confirmed as Arsenal Suffer New Double Injury Blow

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, Sky Sport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, players, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Reiss Nelson and Sead Kolasinac are both set to miss out on Arsenal’s clash this weekend against Burnley after missing Europa League clash against Dundalk on Thursday night, after suffering minor injuries.

Football.London report that both Nelson and Kolasinac will miss out on Arsenal’s trip to Dundalk on Thursday night with injury problems.

Chris Wheatley adds on Twitter that they’re ‘minor injuries’ and says Nelson specifically ‘will be fine’. The winger is being left out after an accidental clash of heads in training.

It’s good to hear that neither will be out for long, but it does create a bit of an issue for this game in particular.

At left-back, Kolasinac is the usual choice for these Europa League games. Assuming Arsenal don’t want to play Kieran Tierney three times in a week, they’re a bit low on alternatives.

Joel Lopez has been performing well with the academy, but he played 90 minutes for the u21s on Tuesday, so he’s unavailable to start this one.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles seems like the next most likely choice, but that’s a shame after he played so well in midfield last week. Perhaps Bukayo Saka could play instead, but we’ll see.

As for the wide position, Arsenal will either have to turn to Willian or play someone out of position. Emile Smith Rowe is probably a candidate, along with Eddie Nketiah or Folarin Balogun. All of them have played wide in the past, but it’s none of their best positions.
